LOCAL ANIMAL GROUPS PARTNER
Partnerships and Collaboration = Life Saving
Hundreds of local cats need sterilization NOW!
SAFE Haven is partnering with other shelters, rescues and clinics to help save cats in Wake County. We are hoping to greatly reduce the high euthanasia rates for feral/community cats. We know from other cities, that spaying and neutering these community cats will greatly reduce the continued growth of the cat population and therefore the euthanasia rate.
The committee consists of experts from various cat rescue agencies and spay/neuter facilities: Cat Angels, SAFE Haven for Cats, Operation Catnip, SPCA, Wake Voice for Animals and other concerned individuals.
As the springtime cat-breeding season comes upon us, this takes on more urgency. Please help us stop unwanted litters of kittens from being born.
This unique, first time partnership, is trying to raise money to cover the cost of the spay/neuter surgeries, which will be done at low-cost clinics. We hope you will consider making a donation to SAFE Haven for Cats for that purpose. The cost of each surgery ranges from $26 to $50, and we’re hoping, in collaboration with the other committee members, to raise between $5,200 and $10,000 to cover several hundred surgeries this spring.

MOTHER HUBBARD TEN
Seeking $10 Donations
There was an old woman
who lived in a Fleetwood
With four nice cats of her own.
She nicely gave shelter to two pregnant cats
Who added eight kittens to her home.
A spiral of birth soon overtook all the mirth.
And in two years she had almost fifty!
The moral of this story is we need to keep offering high quality, low cost or free sterilization services to every caretaker of cats everywhere. SAFE Haven was recently asked to help the Wake County Animal Control, Care and Adoption Center rehome some of the cats seized from this situation. We were so happy we could help.
On Monday, March 8 we came back to SAFE Haven with 10 young polydactyl kitties in various stages of terror, tenseness, and distrust. They had been through a lot being trapped, put in carriers and riding in cars. They were not, however, feral at all. Did I mention none of them had had any medical care?
After two weeks at SAFE Haven I am really thrilled to report they are doing so much better. All have had vaccines, exams and sterilization. (The smell is much better too!). They are healthy. Most are actively seeking lots and lots of attention. They love to cuddle together in huts for security but they are making great progress. They will make wonderful pets.
In the name of the Mother Hubbard Ten we are asking for donations of $10. Not only to see their needs through till they are adopted but to fund free spaying and neutering for 10 more kitties.
