You want to adopt a cat. Here is some information you'll need to
know:

SAFE
Haven For Cats (SHFC) is not a pet-store – in fact pet stores
have given up the practice of selling dogs and cats because they
agree it promotes irresponsible breeding where profit outweighs
animal welfare.
SHFC is an adoption service that unites lovingly rehabbed stray cats and kittens with a permanent loving owner. Therefore all potential adopters are screened prior to looking at the cats.

You're ready to adopt. Have you viewed the many wonderful cats and
kittens we
have under the Meet the Cats section?
This area is updated weekly. If you see some you would be interested
in meeting in person follow the steps below:
Step 1 Once you fill out the application here is what will happen: You will be contacted by phone within 48 hours. A trained volunteer will interview you about your needs and the type of cat you are looking for. They will answer any questions you may have about medical care, etc. This may take about 5 or 10 minutes. If we have several cats we think would be great for you, we will schedule an appointment for you to come to the shelter that weekend (or in two or three weeks if that would be more convenient.) |
Step
2 You will take the cat home that very day! After signing an Adoption Contract, you will also receive free of charge: a 4 lb. bag of Premium Science Diet food (special thanks to Hills Science Diet); and educational handouts to ease the cat’s transition to it’s new home. In addition, we have a mini-store in our lobby for other cat necessities such as carriers, litter boxes, cute collars and bowls. The adoption fees range from $50-$100 (see our FAQs). We accept personal checks, cash and credit card . All cats adopted from SHFC have complete (up to their current age) medical care including sterilization and microchipping. |

If you want to drop into the shelter, we would be glad to
have you fill out the adoption application at that time and complete
the question
and answer process in our lobby before viewing the cats. If we
have a cat that
would make a great match for you, you would proceed with an adoption
counselor. They will be your “Tour Guide” and answer any
questions you have.
HINT: Saturday and Sunday afternoons are better times to drop in even if you don’t have an appointment as it is usually less busy!
