Pet Food Pantry

Welcome

Pet Food Pantry

We provide pet food at no cost to pet owners who are struggling financially and cannot afford to feed their pets.

The SAFE Haven for Cats Pet Food Pantry is here to help people and families who are unable to feed their pets. This program is designed to fill the void in the nation’s current assistance programs that exclude the purchase of food and supplies for family pets.

One in four pet owners who give up their pets to a shelter say it is because they cannot afford to care for them. By providing temporary pet food assistance, the pet stays in their loving home and out of the shelter.

The Pet Food Pantry provides free pet food, for 3 months or less, to pet owners who cannot afford to feed their pets in Wake County, thanks to donations from our community.

Donate Food

The Pet Food Pantry relies on support from the community to help collect food to support our mission. Sponsoring a food drive can be easy and fun! (See Below). Encourage your friends, family, company, church, school or neighborhood to get involved and participate.

What to Donate: Nutritious, non-perishable pet foods! Our Wish List has the most needed foods and items.

Delivery & Dropoff: You can deliver your food collection to the shelter. In order to save our resources, we ask that you deliver if at all possible. If you’re unable to arrange a drop off, please contact our Pantry Manager to arrange a pick up (48 hours notice required).

The Shelter is open for donations 7 days a week, 9am – 5pm
Shelter Location: 8431-137 Garvey Drive, Raleigh, NC 27616-3267

Who benefits from the Pet Pantry?

Many people will feed their pets before they feed themselves. Our goal is to provide food for their pets while helping keep food on the table for the owners.

We help people who are:

  • Of all ages, races and marital status
  • Unemployed or underemployed
  • Retired, living on social security or other limited income
  • Physically or mentally disabled
  • Experiencing homelessness or housing instability
