We’re hiring a full-time Volunteer Coordinator! Reporting to the Director of Development, the Volunteer Coordinator provides strategy, direction and administrative guidance to all adult and child volunteer initiatives and tabling functions that increase visibility and organizational awareness. The hiring wage for this position is $22 per hour, and includes Medical (100% employer paid), and optional Dental and Vision. 

Essential Job Functions/Core Duties:
Volunteer Program (80%)
• Develop, promote, and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities within the organization.
• Survey staff regularly to assess needs for volunteer assistance.
• Maintain Volunteer Service Descriptions for each volunteer assignment.
• Ensure volunteers are staffed to support the various areas of operations.
• Recommend the most efficient use of volunteers, appropriate volunteer/supervisory mix, and future
workforce needs to support volunteer program operations.
• Conduct and/or arrange for volunteer orientation and training.
• Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures, and standards of volunteer service.
• Assess visitor feedback received through comment forms.
• Organize and participate in volunteer recognition programs and special events.
• Evaluate all aspects of volunteer programs to ensure effectiveness and to recommend/implement
changes as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer
participation.
• Recruit, interview and place applicants for volunteer work.
• Host and attend recruiting events within the community to attract qualified candidates.
• Work with Supervisor to publicize opportunities for volunteers.

• Develop and maintain relationships with other volunteer organizations within the area.
• Provide ongoing support and guidance for volunteers.
• Act as a single point of contact for communications for volunteers.
• Confer with volunteers to resolve grievances and promote cooperation and interest.
• Create and send weekly newsletter to volunteers.

Community Engagement (20%)
• Build new partnerships and cultivate collaboration with existing partners including community
leaders, organizations, schools and businesses that represent the diverse population of service area
to maximize animal welfare stewardship opportunities and reach.
• Assist with and lead the management of projects and programs that increase awareness and best
practices for animal welfare stewardship within the Triangle community.
• Identify community events where SAFE Haven should have a presence.
• Conduct training and educational presentations.
• Represent SAFE Haven for Cats at events throughout the Triangle.
Non-Essential Functions/Additional Duties:
– Assisting programs with care or administrative functions
– Traveling to partner sites to pick up food and supplies
– Other duties as assigned.
