Summary Position Description:
Hiring range: $25 to $28 per hour at 8-10 hours per week, with possibility to extend hours depending on performance and needs of the organization.
We’re looking for a Gift Officer who can help cultivate donor relationships and inspire others to join our work to save cats’ lives. If you’re someone who enjoys connecting with people, listening to their stories, building trust, and helping them invest in meaningful change, we’d love to hear from you. This is a hybrid position based in Raleigh, North Carolina with frequent Triangle area travel.
The Role
As our Gift Officer, you will build and manage a portfolio of mid-level and major donors and prospective supporters whose generosity helps make our mission possible. Some days you’ll be meeting with long-term supporters to learn what inspires their philanthropy. Other days you will partner with program staff to share stories of impact, introduce new donors to our mission or develop strategies that deepen engagement and expand support.
Requirements

At least two years of successful fundraising experience in animal welfare, advocacy, nonprofit, or another mission-driven organization.

Experience working with major donors, executive leadership, board members, or external partners

Strong communication, writing, presentation, and relationship-building skills.

A deep commitment to advancing animal welfare
Nice to haves

You have successfully secured five-figure (or larger) individual gifts.

You’re familiar with North Carolina’s philanthropic community and enjoy cultivating relationships throughout the state with a focus in the Triangle area

You have worked at an animal welfare organization, even if not in a fundraising position

SHELTER VETERINARY ASSISTANT II
Summary Position Description:
Reporting to the Lead Shelter Veterinary Assistant, the Shelter Veterinary Associate II position demands a high level of accuracy and skill in the care of the shelter cats and kittens. The Shelter Veterinary Associate II is expected to be able to effectively medicate, handle, and document the cats in the agency of the organization. There is significant independent work and judgment expected in this role.
Essential Job Functions/Core Duties:
Foundational Care
- Feed shelter cats with food that has been prescribed and documented by the Medical Director.
- Assist in morning care routine – cleaning enclosures, scooping litter boxes, mopping floors, cleaning dishes and laundry
- Follow all biosecurity measures to maintain the health “of the herd”
- Practice Fear-Free handling techniques when moving cats, either within the enclosure, into a carrier, or between buildings
- Set up enclosures for incoming cats
- Procure supplies for outgoing foster cats
- Prepare and participate in medical rounds
- Document and report any anomalous behavior or distress to Medical Team for intervention
Advanced Care
- Administer medication to cats as prescribed by the Medical Director
- Complete the intake process for cats coming into the shelter, including drawing blood and completing diagnostic tests with onsite machines
- Complete basic checkup appointments with cats in the foster system
- Enters and updates animal care, medication, and location information into the shelter management system
- Administers dewormings, flea treatments, and vaccinations (within boundaries of certification) to cats as per the shelter management system; logs all treatments in an accurate and timely manner
Non-Essential Functions/Additional Duties
- Assisting programs with administrative functions
- Traveling to partner sites to drop off cats at outside vet appointments or to pick up food and supplies
- Other duties as assigned.
