As a nonprofit organization, we could not survive without the energy and dedication of our amazing volunteers.
Each year, over 200 volunteers give nearly 8,000 hours of support in a wide variety of areas.
We currently have many volunteer levels. Most of our volunteers log many hours as a shelter volunteer before taking on additional responsibilities.
Cleaning Shift Team Member: Cleaning is one of the primary needs of our shelter. Happy and healthy cats rely on having a clean environment. It is more than just cleaning – we get to socialize and play with the cats, too!
Cleaning Captains: Lead the team! Answer questions, assign sections for cleaning and supervise and train new volunteers. Help us make volunteering safe, friendly and fun.
Tabby Cabby Shuttle Service: We often need to transport cats to various specialty hospitals and veterinary clinics around the Triangle. Can you be a safe driver for this precious cargo?
Special Events Team Member: Have fun and help us raise money for the cats, too! We hold a variety of special events, from fairs and auctions to craft shows and races, as well as educational events.
Special Events Team Lead: Oversee the other volunteers at events and be the “go to” person if volunteers have questions.
Some positions require more time and training than others, but all are equally important. We will provide you with training for any of these positions.
Adoption Counselors: Introduce our cats to their forever homes! Adoption counselors work directly with potential adopters to find the right cat for their lifestyle—and the right person for the cat. Requires minimum of two shifts per month.
Happy Cats Crew: These folks come in after hours and work specifically with the cats who are new to the shelter and unsure of their surroundings. Happy Cats volunteers are selected by staff after observation of cat handling.
