Last Volunteer Info Session for 2019!

For 25 years, our volunteers have helped make SAFE Haven for Cats what it is today. We need volunteers that are outgoing, hardworking, and want to make a difference for cats. Come to our Volunteer Information Session where you can learn about the essential role volunteers play in shelter cat care, community outreach, and adoptions.

We will have a presentation at 6:30 p.m. and then you can learn more from staff and current volunteers about opportunities, training, and the rewards of volunteering at SAFE Haven. Cat lovers ages 16 and up welcome.

Why we need you: Volunteers are needed to help clean the cat cages, socialize the cats, represent SAFE Haven at community outreach events such as Fill-A-Truck, work on special event committees like our Tuxedo Cat Ball, and much more.

We have a volunteer opportunity just for you!

Keep Your Cat Safe During the Holiday

Keep Your Cat Safe During the Holiday

Pine trees and poinsettias are important topics to cover but this workshop isn’t just about those holiday staples! It’s also about navigating the holiday season with your pets: how to help them meet holiday visitors, what holiday treats are safe for them to try, and how to keep them from destroying holiday decorations.

Did you know that when you’re stressed, your animals can get stressed too – and we all know how stressful the holidays can be!

We will share tips and tricks for caring for your furry friends during a very hectic time of year and protecting them from those holiday hazards too!

Clinic News: Help Your Cat Go Nut Free in November

Make November Nut Free with a $10 neuter. Getting your male kitty neutered can help reduce his natural tendencies to prowl, fight and mate. Leave the nuts to the squirrels! Click here to get details on how to schedule a November appointment.

Tips for Treats
Pumpkin carved with cat, moon and spiderHelp make Halloween less scary for your cat by following these helpful tips:

  • Chocolate can be toxic for cats so keep those treats away from your kitty’s reach!
  • Make sure your cat can’t get to your jack-o’-lantern. Pumpkins can cause kitties an upset stomach.
  • Keep your kitty in a safe, closed room away from the door. This will keep them from slipping outside while you’re greeting trick-or-treaters.
