Clinic News: Winter Tips Save Kitty Lives! ❄️

Wintry weather can be hard for humans, but it’s also hard for cats in the community. Here are a few tips to help keep kitties healthy during cold months:

  • If you leave food out for stray cats, leave a little more than you normally do. Cats need extra energy to stay warm and extra food can help them conserve it.
  • While you’re staying inside and warm, use your arts and crafts talents to make DIY feral cat shelters that give cats a safe, warm place to stay. Here’s an easy tutorial to follow.
  • Check under your car’s hood and around your tires before driving – cats sometimes curl up in engines to stay warm!

Matchmakers for Life

Matchmakers for Life

854. That’s the incredible number of cats who found their homes this year. Matching cats with their perfect owner is a big part of why we do what we do.

Here are a few sweet kitties who found their fur-ever homes in the past few years:

CC and Cleo brought love and joy to a household after unexpected loss.
• While Jax and Josie started as the rescues, they became the rescuers after finding their fur-ever home.
Tino proved that the cover doesn’t always match the book.

That’s just three examples of why we love our work and want to do even more in 2020. We want to continue finding homes for cats and we need your help to do that.

Your donations give us the necessary resources to help cats from their first to their last day in the shelter. We’ve raised $104,880 and we’re so close to our goal of $140,000. Will you help us by donating today and sharing our mission with friends and family?

Choose how you can best help:

    • DONATE: From $2 to $2,000, every dollar means that we can do what we need to do to save cats. Through the end of the year, your donation will be MATCHED, so everyone wins!

So why not help save the lives of cats and kittens with a donation? When you donate to SAFE Haven in honor of a friend or family member, they’ll receive a personalized card informing them of your thoughtful gift.

Also, every donation made through the end of the year is now MATCHED! That means your gift will go even further!

It’s so easy! Just add your friend or family member’s contact information to the donation note along with your donation. Donate now!

From Adoption to Beyond

From Adoption to Beyond

Part of being a great cat owner is being educated! There are so many things to learn about our feline friends and their behaviors.

That’s why we love offering educational opportunities with our Feline Fundamentals series. In the last year, we’ve given cat lovers insight into how to keep kitties engaged through play, the special needs of mature kitties, and how to include your pets in emergency planning.

This year, we taught 274 people over nine educational seminars on how to be the best cat owner they can be. We don’t just want you to adopt a cat from us and leave. Once you’ve found your purr-fect match, you’re part of the SAFE Haven community. That means we’re here for you, from adoption to beyond.

We depend on our SAFE Haven community to help us keep offering these opportunities. That’s why we’re asking for help in raising $140,000. We want to continue to provide this needed service to the community.

To sweeten the deal, if you donate between now and the end of the year, your gift is MATCHED. Your donation will go even farther!

Choose how you can best help:

    • DONATE: Every dollar counts and we appreciate your gift no matter how much or how little.
    • SHARE: Check our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for opportunities to share what SAFE Haven does and why you’re supporting our work.

Start the New Year as a Volunteer!

Our volunteers play a vital role in SAFE Haven’s success. We need volunteers that are outgoing, hardworking, and want to make a difference for cats. Come to our Volunteer Information Session where you can learn about the essential role volunteers play in shelter cat care, community outreach, and adoptions.

We will have a presentation at 6:30 p.m. and then you can learn more from staff and current volunteers about opportunities, training, and the rewards of volunteering at SAFE Haven. Cat lovers ages 16 and up welcome.

Why we need you: Volunteers are needed to help clean the cat cages, socialize the cats, represent SAFE Haven at community outreach events such as Fill-A-Truck, work on special event committees like our Tuxedo Cat Ball, and much more.

We have a volunteer opportunity just for you!
