Whiskers and Wisdom: Understanding SAFE Haven’s Admissions Process

September 30 @ 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm

Orange Kitten in Orange Blanket

If you’re involved in cat rescue, TNVR, colony care, fostering, or simply find yourself helping cats in your community, you’ve probably faced the big question: What happens when a cat needs a home?

Join SAFE Haven for Cats for a virtual town hall designed for the people on the front lines of helping community cats. We’ll take you behind the scenes of SAFE Haven’s managed admissions process and explain how cats and kittens enter our adoption program, what factors are considered when space becomes available, and how we work with community members to help cats move toward safe, loving homes.

SAFE Haven has used a managed admissions model throughout its 32-year history. This conversation will help rescue and TNVR partners better understand how that system works and how we can work together to help more cats.

We’ll cover topics including:

  • How SAFE Haven’s managed admissions process works
  • What happens after a cat is submitted for consideration
  • How available shelter space and resources affect admissions
  • What information helps SAFE Haven evaluate a cat for the adoption program
  • Ways rescuers, TNVR volunteers, colony caregivers, and community members can help prepare cats for successful placement
  • How working together can create better outcomes for cats across our community

There will also be time for general questions about SAFE Haven’s admissions process.

Whether you help one neighborhood cat or spend your days working with community cats, we hope you’ll join us to learn more, ask questions, and strengthen the network of people working to help cats throughout our community.
