Summer in North Carolina is hot, but we have a few tips to help your kitty stay cool.

• • Keep your cat’s water fresh. You may have noticed that your cat doesn’t like to drink stale water. Changing your cat’s water daily helps encourage them to stay hydrated, which keeps them cooler.
  • Brush your cat regularly, especially if it has longer hair. Matted hair isn’t just hard to untangle – it can hold in body heat, making it hard for your cat to stay cool.
  • Recycle a cardboard box by turning it on its side to make a cool, dark hideaway for your cat to relax in and beat the heat!

These challenging times have forced too many families to choose between filling their pet’s bowl or their own. Help these local families in need by donating during our Pet Food Pantry Donation Drive-Thru!

Between Thursday, July 30 and Thursday, August 6, we’ll be accepting pet food donations at the pink tent outside of SAFE Haven. These donations will help us build our stockpile of food as we prepare to reopen our Pet Food Pantry. Founded in 2012 to help feed the dogs and cats of members of our Triangle community, the Pet Food Pantry helps feed hundreds of animals every year.

What are we looking for?

• • Sealed and unexpired dog and cat food
  • Biggest need: dry dog and cat food

Our first online Tuxedo Cat Ball is going to be a night to remember, full of fun, cats and surprises. So how can you make it a-MEOW-zing?

• • Register early so you get the latest updates as soon as they’re available.
  • Plan your look. Whether you dress up to the nines or wear your comfiest kitty-themed PJ’s, have fun with your look and share your selfie using #TCBatHome.
  • Get ready to shop! Bid early and bid often on the silent and live auction items. There will be gobs of great items for every shopper!
  • Create a special menu. From kitty-inspired cocktails (meowgarita anyone?) to cat-themed foods (Meow-Shoo Pork), make your homemade or takeout meal fitting for the evening!
  • Invite your friends and family. Being socially distant doesn’t mean you can’t share this fun night with the ones you love! Set up a FaceTime or Zoom party of your own and watch with your cat-loving crew!
