The Cats Asked About You! Do You Have Time To Help Them?

For 25 years, our volunteers have helped make SAFE Haven for Cats what it is today. We need volunteers that are outgoing, hardworking, and want to make a difference for cats. Come to our Volunteer Information Session where you can learn about the essential role volunteers play in shelter cat care, community outreach, and adoptions.

Why we need you: Volunteers are needed to help clean the cat cages, socialize the cats, short- and long-term foster opportunities, represent SAFE Haven at community outreach events such as Fill-A-Truck, work on special event committees like our Tuxedo Cat Ball, and much more. We have a volunteer opportunity just for you!

At this event, learn more from staff and current volunteers about opportunities, training, and the rewards of volunteering at SAFE Haven.

Cat lovers ages 16 and up welcome.

No Hump Day Wednesdays in July!

No Hump Day Wednesdays in July!

July is a month all about freedom. Help your male kitty be free from the responsibility of fatherhood with our No Hump Day Wednesday special!

Every Wednesday during July, the SAFE Care Clinic is offering neuter surgeries for only $25 – a savings of $60! The package includes an exam, pain medication, and vaccines.

Getting your cat neutered means his independence from spraying and aggression. He’ll also be more comfortable and healthier!

Contact the SAFE Care Clinic at info@safecareclinic.org or 919.872.7730 to schedule your cat’s No Hump Day Wednesday surgery. Make sure you mention the special and act fast – there are a limited number of appointments available at this reduced rate!

Fine print: There’s a limit of four cats per caregiver. SAFE Care reserves the right to decline surgery on a cat with significant risk factors (age, weight, chronic conditions).

Stay Cool for the Summer 🕶️
Summer in North Carolina is hot, but we have a few tips to help your kitty stay cool.

  • Keep your cat’s water fresh. You may have noticed that your cat doesn’t like to drink stale water. Changing your cat’s water daily helps encourage them to stay hydrated, which keeps them cooler.
  • Brush your cat regularly, especially if it has longer hair. Matted hair isn’t just hard to untangle – it can hold in body heat, making it hard for your cat to stay cool.
  • Recycle a cardboard box by turning it on its side to make a cool, dark hideaway for your cat to relax in and beat the heat!

Help Us Say YES to Cats in Need

Help Us Say YES to Cats in Need

Our monthly giving Paw Pals members help keep our doors open to all the cats in need. Through monthly gifts, we are able to say YES, we can take care of any cat in need.

One such kitty is Flittermouse, who recently came to us from a concerned rescuer. This tiny kitten’s eyes were matted and crusty. He needed immediate care and we said YES.

When we first saw him, we thought he would probably be blind for the rest of his life, but he has an amazing will to live. After just a few weeks in our care, his eyes are clearing up. He’s eating well and living his best kitten life. And he can definitely see out of both eyes!

Flittermouse Before and After

If you become a Paw Pals donor, your monthly gift will ensure we can always say YES to cats like Flittermouse and others like him. Each month, we’re asked to care for our community’s cats that are most in need. Say YES to caring for these cats by joining our Paw Pals monthly giving program.
