Eight months. That’s how long Ednah has been waiting for her perfect home.

This November, we’re hoping her wait finally comes to an end! Some cats wear their hearts on their sleeves. Others, like Ednah, take a little more time to let you in. But when they do, every little moment feels extra special.

Ednah is a shy, independent girl who has been waiting for her perfect match since March 2026. While she may not be the first cat to greet you at the door, she has so much personality to share with someone willing to give her the time and space she needs to feel comfortable.

A Little Patience Makes a Big Difference

Ednah is currently living with a foster family, where she’s been making wonderful progress. When she first arrived, she preferred to keep her distance and rarely showed up. But with patience, kindness, and a calm environment, she’s slowly discovering that people can be pretty great!

These days, Ednah is becoming more playful, more curious, and more comfortable with affection. She’s purring more, enjoying gentle brushing and head scratches, and occasionally even approaching her foster family to ask for attention. These may seem like small milestones, but for a cat like Ednah, they’re huge steps forward!

Ednah still gets nervous around sudden movements and unfamiliar situations. She’s not a lap cat, and she prefers to decide when and how she interacts with people. But her foster family sees her confidence growing, and they know there’s even more of her personality waiting to shine.

Ednah’s Perfect Home

Ednah isn’t looking for just any home. She’s looking for HER perfect home. Her ideal family will understand that building trust takes time and that the best relationships are worth waiting for.

Ednah would thrive with:

  • A quiet, calm household without young children, where she can feel safe and comfortable.
  • An experienced cat person who understands feline body language and knows when to give a nervous kitty some space.
  • A patient, understanding adopter who will celebrate her progress and let her build trust at her own pace.

Ednah has also shown curiosity about other cats, so she may be able to share a home with a feline friend with careful introductions.

Most importantly, she needs someone who will love her for exactly who she is: an independent, curious girl who is learning to trust the world around her.

A Special Adoption Opportunity

Because Ednah has made so much progress in foster care, we want to help her find a home without disrupting the confidence she’s worked so hard to build. That’s why we’re doing something a little different!

Instead of meeting Ednah at the shelter, approved adopters can arrange a special visit to meet her in her foster home, where she feels most comfortable.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Complete SAFE Haven’s adoption application and indicate your interest in Ednah.
  2. Once approved, our team will contact you to coordinate a visit with Ednah and her foster family.
  3. Meet Ednah in her familiar environment with a SAFE Haven adoption team member present.
  4. If it’s the right match, you will complete the adoption with the SAFE Haven team!

Potential adopters must provide identification before their scheduled visit. This approach allows Ednah to meet her future family in a place where she feels safe, while giving adopters a chance to see the progress she’s made.

Could You Be the Person Ednah Has Been Waiting For?

After eight months of waiting, Ednah deserves the chance to find a home where she can keep blossoming. She may never be the cat who jumps into your lap the moment you walk through the door. But she could be the cat who greets you with a little purr, surprises you with a playful moment, or decides that today is the day she’d like a few extra head scratches. And when you’ve earned the trust of a cat like Ednah, those moments mean everything.

Could November be the month Ednah finally finds her person?

Apply to adopt through SAFE Haven for Cats and mention Ednah in your application. Our team will help coordinate the next steps.
Not the right home for Ednah? You can still help! Share her story with friends, family, and fellow cat lovers. Somewhere out there is the person she’s been waiting eight months to meet. With your help, we can find them!
