Binary Fission Is Ready to Split From the Shelter
The scientific conclusion is in: after more than six months at SAFE Haven, Binary Fission is ready to divide from shelter life and discover the freedom of a home of his own.
Binary Fission, or BF to his friends, is sweet, playful, wonderfully quirky, and very independent. He doesn’t need to be the center of your attention. In fact, he’d prefer you didn’t make such a fuss.
After six months in the shelter, BF is getting stir-crazy. He’s ready for more space, a predictable routine, and a window where he can conduct some very important neighborhood research.
The Binary Fission Formula
BF’s ideal equation is pretty simple:
Quiet home + great window + wand toys + plenty of independence = one happy cat.
He LOVES looking out the window and playing with wand and Cat Dancer toys. But BF has a time limit. When he’s done playing or receiving attention, he’ll let you know.
Swishing tail? Ears back? The stare? = Experiment concluded. Please give the scientist some space.
Looking for an Independent Companion?
Some cats want to be the center of your world. Binary Fission would prefer to be your roommate.
He likes having his person nearby without needing constant interaction, making him a great potential companion for someone who works from home. You work. He watches birds. Later, he might stop by for some playtime or even visit your lap when he decides it’s time.
The key to BF is letting him lead. He can become overstimulated and occasionally nippy or enthusiastic with his claws, so an adult-only home is best. He would also likely be happiest as your only pet.
When he first comes home, BF will need plenty of space and at least 10 days of peaceful adjustment. Give him time to settle in, let him choose when he wants attention, and you’ll be speaking his language. Make sure to read our article on Creating a Safe Space.
Six Months Is Long Enough
Binary Fission isn’t looking for someone to turn him into a snuggly lap cat. He’s looking for someone who appreciates an independent companion with his own opinions, routine, and agenda.
After more than six months at SAFE Haven, BF is ready for his independence.
He’s ready for more space. He’s ready for his own window. Most importantly, he’s ready to go home.
