You Say It’s Your Birthday? Share it!

You know that joy and excitement you feel when it’s your birthday and everyone treats you like the super special person you are? Share it with us by setting up a birthday fundraiser to help SAFE Haven. Bonus – doing good makes your special day even better!

Here’s how:

  1. Click our special fundraiser link: https://www.facebook.com/fund/safehavenforcats/.
  2. Pick a goal – there’s no amount too small to support our cats!
  3. Tell people why they should donate. Did you adopt your furry feline family member from us? Do you think it’s important to help reduce feline overpopulation? Write it down in your own words, and then…
  4. Share! Share your fundraiser to your Facebook page and then let people know how they can make your birthday special for you AND for our cats!
  5. Bask in the feeling of doing good and know that the kitties are saying thank you!

25 Years of Saving Lives

Founder Pam and Cat In Garage That Served As Early Shelter

When SAFE Haven for Cats officially launched in 1994, it took up less than 500 square feet – the size of founder Pam Miller’s garage. Since we began, we have found homes for more than 10,000 cats and fixed 30,000 felines with your help. YOU are the secret to our success. See how far we’ve come by checking out our special 25th Anniversary page!

Do You Have Heart?

Group Of Volunteers Standing For Group Photo

A wise woman once said, “volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” It’s so true – our volunteers show our cats, and us, how much heart they have no matter how little or much time they give. Come to our May Volunteer Information Session to learn more about joining our team.

What does it mean to foster?
SAFE Haven foster families give short-term care for cats that are either too young to be adopted or need a little extra socialization. They even give cats a place to crash when they need a break from shelter life.

A bonus of having a great group of foster families: SAFE Haven for Cats can take in that many more cats who are ready to be adopted immediately. Fostering save lives just by opening more homes to adoptable cats!

While it can be hard to say goodbye, many fosters say it’s worth it because it’s fun and rewarding to see their kittens find their new families.

A Word from a Foster
Foster Traci Highsmith Holding Four Baby Kittens In Her Hands

SAFE Haven foster volunteer Traci Highsmith was recently featured in the News & Observer for how she brings attention to her foster kittens: social media!

“Shelters like SAFE Haven need social media influencers like Traci,” [Senior Director Patti] Godin said. “Even if her @RaleighKittens follower doesn’t adopt one of her foster kittens, they have visited our website, maybe stopped by and toured our shelter, and perhaps fell in love with another shelter cat who may have not been adopted so quickly.”
