Show your furry friend how much you love them by getting them a rabies vaccination and/or a microchip. Owners (adults only) must bring cats in carriers and dogs on leashes. If an animal has been previously vaccinated, the proof will be required to receive a 3-year vaccination (tag not sufficient). Animals without such documentation will receive a 1-year vaccination.

Foster Sleepovers & Foster Information Fair 
Tuesday, March 5 – 6:30 – 8:00 pm 
Tickets: $5 Donation 

Learn from our shelter staff how many cats – not just kittens – need foster families to take a break from shelter life, to learn to be more social and to get some vital enrichment that increases their chance for adoption. Foster sleepovers may be just a weekend, or it may be several weeks. However long, it is a rewarding and fun experience that introduces you to the foster process in a more relaxed, less demanding way. 

After attending this seminar, you will be more aware of the foster process, and what types of cats and kittens will be ideal for you to care for in your home. SAFE Haven for Cats has a fantastic community of fosters who will be delighted for you to join them on an immensely gratifying journey to help homeless cats and kittens find their forever homes!

We are seeking volunteers that are outgoing, hardworking, and want to make a difference. Come to our Volunteer Information Session where you can learn about the essential role volunteers play in shelter cat care, community outreach, and adoptions.

Join us Tuesday, March 19, 6:30-8:00 pm at SAFE Haven for Cats at 8431-137 Garvey Dr in Raleigh. 

Presentation starts at 6:30 pm and then you can learn more from staff and current volunteers about opportunities, training, and the rewards of volunteering at SAFE Haven. Cat lovers ages 16 and up welcome.

Why we need you: 
Volunteers are needed to help clean the cat cages, socialize the cats, represent SAFE Haven at community outreach events such as Fill-A-Truck, work on special event committees like our Tuxedo Cat Ball, and much more. We have a volunteer opportunity just for you!

When pets are like family, we do everything to keep them healthy and safe. Come get your cat or dog vaccinated and microchipped at our Rabies & Microchip Clinic on Saturday, March 9, 2019, from 12 – 2 pm at SAFE Haven for Cats! Vaccines are only $5 and microchips are $15. This is a cash or check only event.

Why Vaccinate Against Rabies?
Rabies is an easily-preventable disease caused by a virus often found in mammals (most commonly raccoons, foxes, and bats). It’s transmitted mainly through saliva via bites or scratches of an infected animal; without immediate treatment after exposure, rabies is nearly always fatal. Getting your pets vaccinated will keep them healthy and rabies-free. Additionally, rabies vaccines are required by law in the state of North Carolina; all owned dogs and cats must be vaccinated by four months of age, and the vaccination must be kept current.

Why Are Microchips So Important
Since you’re considering having your pet vaccinated, why not also think about getting them microchipped? Only about 22% of lost dogs and 2% of lost cats are reunited with their owners, but microchipping increases the chances of reuniting lost pets with their humans to almost 75%! During this simple and quick procedure, a small chip is inserted below the surface of your pet’s skin that allows them to be scanned by animal control and veterinarians if they get lost. Microchips are an important part of pet care because you never know when your pet might decide to go off on an adventure!
